Kestrel: An Interface from Modeling Systems to the NEOS Server

The NEOS Server provides access via the Internet to a broad variety of optimization software packages. Kestrel, a new interface to the NEOS Server, extends the Server’s usefulness by permitting local programs rather than human modelers to request optimization services and retrieve results. As a result, a locally running modeling system can have much the same access to remote NEOS solvers as to ...

Kestrel: An Interface from Optimization Modeling Systems to the NEOS Server

The NEOS Server provides access to a variety of optimization resources via the Internet. The new Kestrel interface to the Server enables local modeling environments to request NEOS optimization services and retrieve the results for local visualization and analysis, so that users have the same convenient access to remote NEOS solvers as to those installed locally. Kestrel agents have been implem...

The Kestrel Interface to the NEOS Server

The NEOS Server provides access to optimization solvers through the Internet with a suite of interfaces. In particular, the Kestrel interface enables the remote solution of optimization problems within the AMPL and GAMS modeling languages. Problem generation, including the run-time detection of syntax errors, occurs on the local machine using any available modeling language facilities. Solution...

Optimization on the NEOS Server

The NEOS Server for Optimization was unveiled in 1995 as one result of an effort to develop computational servers and collaborative technologies. Today, the NEOS Server (www-neos.mcs.anl.gov) is a multi-institutional research effort providing access to more than fifty academic and commercial optimization packages through an assortment of Internet interfaces. More than seventy thousand job reque...

Optimization of a fed-batch fermentation process control competition problem using the NEOS server

An optimal control solution to a fed-batch fermentation process, responding to a competition call, was developed using the NEOS (network enabled optimization solution) server (http://www-neos.mcs.anl.gov/neos/). Substantial improvement to the nominal performance achieved in the paper demonstrates the ability of the NEOS server and the asynchronous parallel pattern search algorithm.
